Lightning at Gulf Beach

Mike Shaheen Photography has added a photo to the pool:

Lightning at Gulf Beach

Actually a little upset about this one. So I've never uploaded lightning photos before. In fact, I've never tried to photograph lightning. This evening there were sudden thunderstorms on Long Island, and they were moving inland quick.

This is actually three photos merged on top of one another, then I changed the tone from the brown-orange that was a result of the ambiance from streetlights to a cold-dark blue, and cropped it.
Really grainy, but it was the best I could do, even with ISO 100. Between moving locations, changing lenses, trying to focus (which was near-impossible) and playing with the aperture to get the right shot, I missed so many strikes. By the time I had everything perfect it moved inland. Best to try again, but this is my first.

Each photo was taken with the same settings, just different exposures. The settings were-
Aperture f/11.0
ISO Speed 100
Exposure ~5seconds each
Focal Length 55mm
Lens Nikkor 18 - 55 mm f/3.5-5.6 stock zoom lens
