So right off, this is not a picture, it is an image made of approx. 8 vertical images to create the panorama, then two other images to work with the fireworks and the light flair that intermingled with the smoke and fireworks.
Last night I was at one of our RiverCats games and I discovered that they were shooting off fireworks that evening after the show. I got this great vantage point and started to build the picture set that I was going to need to create this image. I was with my family and didn't want to be away from them so I figured I'd be ok if I got up there in the last inning since up to that point every other had been around 20 to 30 min....not the cast in the last one...it went very quickly and I had not gotten all the shots I wanted. Also I did not know what they would do for the show, keep the lights on, turn them off??? Well in the end they turned all the lights off, and I did not have the pano images of the field shot with the lights off so, I opted to put the images together which turned out ok, since you can see all the detail of the ball park and still "with the help of PS" you get to also see the intensity of the fireworks. This is a HUGE image and it's only being displayed right now at 5 DPI! There are several errors, and other things that I would do differently it I was to do this again. I hope that I can get back up here again over the summer and catch another display, now knowing more about the location, how high the fireworks shot up, the lighting.....you know....all the stuff you need to know to shoot things right.
Well in the end I still got a good image and had a great evening with my family and only spent a small fortune on food and beer!!!
Have a great week!
