Roobit1970 has added a photo to the pool:
Corner of Pestel or old name of Saint Panteleon (Panteleimon) street and Liteiny or Foundry Avenue
Camera: Alsaphot Ajax IIIs
(notice the vignetting and the not exactly squarish complexion of the photo)
Film: Rollei RPX 100
Developer - Rodinal or rather Fomadon R09 (same stuff)
the wall to the right belongs to Muruzi (or Morouzi) building, a rental property - luxurious ones (as rich people never owned apartments, the concept was unknown until say - 1970s in parts of the US where land was owned, not a unit on it until the concept of condominium or cooperative was invented. First in Finland, then a Grand Duchy, then spread to Russia proper - where the first housing coop, a luxurious one as well, was launched around 1908 and first building was constructed in 1912). This building - to the right dates from 1874.
It is built on the estate of Baron Nicholas Rezanoff (Nikolai Rezanov, Rezanow), Russia's ambassor to Japan (1804), author of first Russo-Japanese dictionary 1806, explorer author of unfulfilled plans for Russian colonization of North America (pacific coast, Alasaka and Oregon, down to California with a piece of it, were parts of Russia) and participant in Ivan von Krusenstern's first Russian circumnavigation of the globe. He died at Krasnoiarsk (Krasnoyarsk, Krasnojarsk), tragically, in accident - he fell of a horse and hit head against a stone or something like that.
There were so many illustrious personalities who lived in the building to the right that I need to look them all up, and I won't do that. Among Soviet era notables who lived to the right was Joseph Brodsky, a Russian poet (or Jewish origin) and a Noble Prize winner for literature.
I'll get to that building later on - when it will also be a bit lighter than when the picture was taken.
==========================
