Traditional Klidonis celebration in the village of Armeni on the Greek island of Crete

Souvlaki, lamb meat, pilafi, Greek salad and local wine are served at this annual summer event in the Apokoronas region of Crete under an 100-year-old plane tree in the village square.

Traditional folk music follows the meal. A bonfire is lit and the dried floral wreaths gathered by villagers on May Day are tossed in the flames. Some villagers join in the fire jumping ritual over the flames.
