This was taken late at night after me and my brother finished visiting the top of the rock. This is one of the most pictured items at the Rockefeller Center.
I shot it handheld whilst resting on a railing which was below the statue. It is a three frame HDR tone mapped in Photomatrix and then finished off in Photoshop.
A tip that I would like to share is that I think in images which have a totally black sky you should try and find a shot where the sky has some colour in it like the above shot has purple I think that it leads for a much more interesting image. I think that the HDR process has brought out the purple in the sky and it has helped the image look more interesting than by doing this.

Waded out into the river to do a wool spin. The weather may be unseasonably warm, but the river definitely feels like winter.
Fire and Ice Water - Star Trails and Wool Spin In the Freezing River

My friend Jon Beard ventured junk deep into the freezing river to spin this impressive display. This is a 70 minute exposure for the star trails combined with the burning steel wool spin, all captured in a single exposure.

Well, I think the title pretty much explains how San Francisco 49er fans feel. Maybe some of them, anyway. These brilliant colors were turned on in support of the NFL football team, who had a very good season.
Anyway, this is the first image I ever processed for showing on flickr in Photoshop. I started the arduous journey of going back to school to really learn the program right. The trip will either end with a college certificate, or, should I find the time, motivation, and strength, Adobe certification (ACE).
Hopefully, someone can tell me before too long a good way to repair a water spot abberation that is easier than manually stitching back every pixle at high magnification. By the way, content-aware spot-healing, clone stamping, and patching did not work (for me). Haha. Thanks for any advce and for just having a look!
Two Columbus Circle Elephants (P1050210)
michael.2999.pics has added a photo to the pool:
I have photographed Peter Woytuk's elephants at Columbus Circle before, but only individually. Here's a shot with both elephants in frame. It didn't take long to get a clean shot without people walking by. The streets were decidedly uncrowded tonight, at least by New York standards.
This is part of a 17 piece public art installation on Broadway from 168th Street down to Columbus Circle at 59th Street.
A map of the installation can be found here

[crosseye stereograph, see 3D with your right eye on the left image, and left on right.]
This stereograph represents not setting up my cameras correctly before starting to shoot. The left camera has color slow shutter engaged the right camera was in normal exposure which turned out very dark and was then adjusted for color balance and contrast balance using Photoshop.
This is an example where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Similar to the analog television broadcasts of old defined the contrasts sharply using a black and white signal and followed with a color signal burst, this image, when viewed in three dimensions with crossed eyes produces a dreamy color on a sharp contrast. For example, The gate and fencing display sharp definition of the boards, but the true color is represented in the fuzzy image of a long exposure with the iris fully open.

Apologies to my Flickr friends if they get tired of my multiple Palace shots. This will be the final post of this location for a while.

On another sleepless night I end up at south st seaport just to find out that they now close it at night! So in an effort to not walk away empty handed I find a vantage point that put me perfectly between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge :) I hope you guys like it!
